Canadians are waking up.
That our communications, by wire and now over modern communications modes, are being monitored is not news. Canada operates one of the most sophisticated communications surveillance operations in the world; it helped the Allied Forces win WWll.
What is increasingly making news is that the civilian population is becoming more aware of how we maintain intelligence in peace time and in war and how it affects us all.
Nothing costs nothing. We all pay a price for democracy. The conversation we are now having more 'openly' is how much we are willing to pay and how much is 'too much'.
